One of the things that I miss about SC, and living in Cola Town, is the State Fair.
I'm with Chuck. Lots of fond memories going to that fair. Roach clips with feathers, elephant ears (funnel cakes), REO Speedwagon mirrors for the wall, getting the message lady to say "ET phone home" over the loudspeakers (for only $1!)...
I'm kinda surprised by all the nostalgia. I have very few good memories from the State Fair. They used to have Freak Shows that were...well, freaky. The rides seemed very dangerous. The Carnies scared me, with their toothless grins and prosthetic limbs. And I was always broke after playing various games that I now suspect might have been rigged. However, they did have a wide selection of large belt buckles and air-brushed T-shirts.
