How Did He Find Me There?

Yesterday, my good friend, Tim, took me to Asheville, NC, to hear David Wilcox in concert at the Grey Eagle. This was my birthday present from Tim, supporting my agenda to celebrate turning 40 all year long. I've seen David Wilcox perform a couple of other times over the past 12 years, but this one was by far the best. He performed several new songs from his new "Airstream" CD (which, of course, I bought). The concert ended around 11PM and we got back home around 2AM...whew. Good Times.

I'm glad it was a good show.
Paul and I saw him one night in Greenville and I think he had food poisoning. Every song was depressing and slow. By night's end I couldn't tell if I should kill myself or just go home.
Needless to say, I just went home.

I saw him in back in my college days(in Greenville, maybe)and it was a serious downer of a show. I was so surprised, because I loved his music so much. But I hear at other shows, he was really fun and light-hearted. Oh well - glad you picked one of those shows.

Very jealous. Good stuff - he holds my attention on my ipod with just the right sound and lyrics whenever I pop it on. Very very jealous.

Wow - so he's still out there. I used to listen to his stuff regularly 20 years ago. How's the new CD?

I too have seen him perform a very depressing show (which is kind of his thing), but this one was very upbeat. He had his wife and son there and a bunch of his Asheville friends (who he invited up to perform too). He was laughing and joking between songs and having a good ole time. He did a hilarious song called "Captain Wanker" about a road-raging, impatient, kind of person and I got the feeling he had been spying on me for lyric material. Good times.

Sweet. That's awesome. I too would love to see the non-Sylvia Plath version of his live show.
