Terror Men

My mother-in-law's friend recently returned from Iraq and brought some toy army-men. As expected, the uniforms and weapons look foreign, but it's the poses that are most odd. Maybe I just can't distinguish between good guys and bad guys (which still may be one of America's biggest problem in the War on Terror), but more than half of these men appear to be dead, injured, prisoners, or surrendering. Is this a subliminal message of defeat or poor morale or just the opposite? What do YOU make out of this? (leave a comment)

I'm trying to figure out the gray ones wearing the fedora. Is that standard issue now?

HA! It sure isn't the same army as it was when I was little. All of the guys were green and there were only about a half dozen poses. They were all purposeful. They were on a mission and they knew it. Each little plastic guy knew who his enemy was and was ready to fight and die for the cause. War was black/white, right/wrong. There was none of this, "Hey where are those darned WMD's?" or "Well, if there are no WMD's then that wasn't the purpose in the first place."

fetomato - that's my word verification.
It makes me want a cheese and tomato sandwich.

Yes, I miss the WWII style soldiers of my childhood, as well as the astronauts. But what I don't understand is why there is a hairbrush in the photo.

These obviously are French Army toy soldiers. Saw the shot...had to take it.
