Tour De France Sweepstakes Update 2011

UPDATED (7/10/11): If you are looking for Tour de France Sweepstakes info, welcome back. This year's sweepstakes has changed to IZOD Race for the Podium . If you know the current stage's code word beofre I get to update this blog, please post them in the comments and I will add them to the list below as soon as possible.

Here's a few tips and observations: The sweepstakes game has typically been time-sensitive, awarding prizes to the person who comes closest to spinning at a predefined (and ever changing) time. You can guess at words, or look at the past code words on this blog (They recycle them well. After all, there are only so many cycling words that make sense.) however, there is a limit to how many entries you can have per email address (technically "per Household"), so don't waist all you turns before the first Rest Day. For all my years of playing, I have only won once, but it was a sweet T-Shirt.

Thanks for checking in and leaving your comments.  If you need to purchase anything from Amazon or any other advertisers, I would appreciate it if you would click through from this site. Vive La Tour!

UPDATE: I've posted another article below for anyone who wants to track the Spot Clean Bottle contest too. Leave your sighting info in the comments. Thanks for the suggestion.

There's a race for the podium through nbc sports and Izod. The word from the broadcast today is "breakaway"

George said...

Thanks Christine! I'm not getting that via All Access Live Streaming, but maybe I will in the recaps. I hope you and others will leave the daily code words here in the comments.

Stage 3 "Sprint"

If you check the official rules for the sweepstakes, it says you can e-mail them each day to get a code word if you don't have Versus. Just thought I'd point that out since I saw your comment about not getting the channel anymore

Anonymous said...

The relative with the subscription is receiving a valid code.
"Acceleration" worked in addition to "breakaway", "aerodynamic" and "sprint". Someday, I will win a water bottle! sz

just curious: has anyone won anything? I'd love to win a water bottle ... So far this year I've won several free spins, but that's it. Nothing even close to that last year. btw, France worked for me today as did peloton.

"If you do not have VERSUS, you can obtain the daily code word by sending an email to versus@nbcuni.com with "VERSUS TDF Daily Code" in the subject line and a code word will immediately be sent to you via email. You may obtain the code word through this method of entry up to 24-hours after the code word is aired on VERSUS."

You can use the code words from previous days on any day. I too missed a day, found you website and the word of the day worked on the following day!
I love this race, it demonstrates the human spirit and the power of the mind better than any other sport! I would love to see Chris Horner win a stage. I'm from Bend, Oregon. It was a thrill to see him win The Tour of CA at the ripe old age of 39!

Thanks for all the help with Code Words this year everyone. Sorry I haven't been able to post them promptly enough. I'll try to be better. Someone suggested tracking the Clean Water Bottle contest too, so I'll add that below for anyone who spots the mascot and can cite the location on the stage. We'll track that via comments only, so please specify date or stage number and specific location clearly. Great Suggestion. Thanks again.

Rest Day, Monday July 11 code word is “Echelon”

What a "Tour de Crash" this year. It hurts me to see all the riders crashing out of the race this year.
I can't remember any previous years where there were this many crashes.

I saw the Clean Bottle guy towards the end of Sunday's race, I think with the leaders up one of the last hills. I'd play the game, but it's a Facebook app, which I don't do. see https://www.facebook.com/cleanbottle
