Band Reunion at the Lake 2009

Last weekend my old Children at Heart band mates and our families got together at the Mynatt' Lake house just outside of Atlanta. Greg was there with his new bride and their now-expanding family, so we had a little belated wedding shower for them. Mike and his family couldn't make it because he's been on two back to back youth mission trips lately with his new job. We missed them. However, the weather was beautiful and it was a great chance to catch up with everyone and just chill out. A good time was had by all. Here's some pics.

The Velvet Fog

They call Mel Torme "The Velvet Fog", but this weekend my pal, Mike Vaughan, was fogging the place up at my church. Oooh, that didn't sound like I intended it to. Anyway, Mike did a great job leading worship with our praise band over the weekend and we all really appreciated it. Good Times. Here's some clips:

Weekend at Coley's

Last weekend, we went to visit our good friends, Coley and Kim (and their kids), at their family's weekend lake house in Stonebridge, GA. We met Coley and Kim in college, a PC, and Coley and I were fellow rock-n-rollers there and later in Nashville. Good times.

Funny Paul

My old college room mate and former rocker, Paul made a hilarious YouTube video about shaving his beard. Click here to check it out. Prepare to laugh.

Below is a picture from when we were in college, after Paul shaved off most of his first beard. Actually, we both grew beards and shaved them down to ridiculous Foomanchu 'staches and Mutton chops for at least a day. Somewhere I have a photo of both of us with our horrible beards. I'll post it if I can find it.

Beverages To Go

My old college and Nashville friend, Greg, stopped in for a visit Saturday evening whilst on his way to a business conference in Charleston. His company is apparently responsible for hosting a hospitality room at the conference and he got stuck with the job of getting the beverages, so I took him to the local beverage warehouse to stock up prior to being SOL from our Sunday Blue Laws. It was very entertaining to go the the liquor and beer stores with someone who doesn't drink or know anything about how to. About $250 later, he was none-the-wiser. I guess alcohol really does kill brain cells.

Happy Ferdieth Birthday, Big Paul!

My friend Paul now qualifies for the "over 40" classification for his next triathalon. Best wishes, you old Ferdling, you!

Coolest Gift Ever...

In addition to the awesome band reunion weekend my wife, Jennifer, gave me for my 40th birthday, she also made me a quilt from the old t-shirts of various bands I've played in. They are: Fulmer Middle School and Airport High School Bands, Presbyterian College Wind Ensemble, Children At Heart, Legend Seven, and the Mt Horeb United Methodist Church Praise Band. Of course there were other bands, but they didn't all have t-shirts, so they don't appear on the quilt. This is so cool.
