At first I thought it was a spider web from a really tough spider.
Then I thought about what Chuck guessed and I think he's right. I've never seen a pool filter basket, but he seems really sure of himself.

This is like the "What in World" game on the back of National Geograpic for Kids. I pretty much stunk at that, too. Is it a wagon wheel? No wait - a fan? A salad spinner?
Wow, great guesses. All very wrong, but excellent tries nonetheless. This is proving to be more fun and challenging than I had expected. I can't wait to post the bigger picture.
