I realized this week that I was about to have my anniversary ... of one year of blogging. My first post was on July 31st, 2007. I have to admit that I'm as surprised as anybody that I actually stuck with it. It has made me a little introspective about the whole mess.
Looking back at it I must say that it has been a really great year. I've rekindled many friendships, from high school and beyond. I've been able to keep in touch with many other close friends too. I've also made some great new friends, like Kyle. But the best part is witnessing the co-mingling of these various circles of friends, like Chuck spoofing Paul's video; my sister-in-law, Nikki, obsessing over a "Where in SC" challenge (even if she WAS too shy to post a comment); Charlotte posting comments on Alan's blog; and so on. It makes me smile to see so many people that I dearly love (although separately) crossing paths online and sharing laughs and becoming friends. I am blessed to have so many great friendships and I'm glad I fell into this blogging thing as a way to enjoy them even more.
Thanks everyone, for a great year!

Super Cool!
Add to your list how you affected me with the whole blog thing. OK, it was an obsession for a while, but thanks for helping me to share out my experiences in Rwanda. I hope all is well. ALOHA

Happy birthday to "Tighty Whitey." It's always a hoot reading your blog, George. Skoal!
Ditto props - just glad you keep plugging away, "covering all the important stuff", which is, of course, so important. Good job!
Who's Alan?
You say obsessing, I say discovering that Google Earth has a nautical chart feature. Either way, I'm pretty sure it killed part of my brain.
Hey George! It's been a while. I just found your blog last week and really have enjoyed virtually catching up with what you've been doing and how your family has grown. Great blog!
Drop me a line sometime -- on gmail I'm wbrennecke.
Great entry, GN. This is a lot of fun. Thanks for nagging me into it.
Wow. Has it been a year? Really? It seems like just yesterday you talked me into this crap as well. Good times. I too have almost spent 1/40th of my life blogging.
GN - Thanks for posting out into the wide world of the blog - o - thing - a - ma - jigy.
As far as friends co-mingling: it's turning into seven degrees of seperation from Tighty Whitey.
One of my favorite pieces from a post is when you explained the context of Tighty Whitey and then proceeded to slap a big pair of drawers at the top. Classic.
I think Tighty Whitey is 1 degree more efficient than Kevin Bacon:
1. George is my brother-in-law;
2. His blog links to Wade Joye (who I've never met);
3. Wade Joye links to Worship Matters (Bob Kauflin, also never met);
4. Bob Kauflin works with Josh Harris at Covenant Life Church in MD;
5. Josh Harris is married to Shannon;
6. Shannon is a friend/roommate from my college days at UNH.
Tighty Whitey will unite the world!
So this is where you've been this past year. Happy Birthday, Honey.
